Chemistry Laboratory Equipment List
It is very important for every student to know about Chemistry Lab Equipment Names List PDF and pictures. If you are a student of science, then it is very important for you to know the names of the equipment and how to use them.
We mostly use all of these in practical classes in school and college but sometimes it becomes difficult to differentiate between proper chemistry lab equipment and biological lab equipment.
From the day we start doing basic laboratory experiments in school, it should be obvious to the student to have a basic knowledge of chemistry lab equipment.
So, today we are going to discuss this. And we will try to know about the basic equipment used in a science laboratory.
Safety protocols should also be strictly followed while using these types of equipment as even a small mistake can lead to a big accident and serious consequences.
Chemistry Lab Equipment (apparatus) List
Beakers | Beaker is used as a chemical container in the laboratory. Beakers are available in different sizes. Although they often possess volume markings, these are only rough estimates of the liquid volume. The markings are not necessarily accurate. |
Test tube | A test tube is also called a sample tube. This is the most commonly used glass piece in the laboratory. It can be made of glass or plastic. Its upper part is open and the lower part is “U” shaped. |
Pipette | Pipettes are used in chemistry labs to transfer liquids, they are made of glass. |
Graduated pipette | These Pipettes are calibrated in the factory to release the desired quantity of liquid. |
Burette | A burette is a device used in a laboratory to measure the volume of a liquid or gas. It consists of a graduated glass tube with a stopcock (turning plug, or spigot) at one end. |
Burette clamp | A burette clamp is used in the laboratory to hold glass burettes, test tubes, and flasks in any lab that requires heating a solution with a burner and ring stand. |
Volumetric flask | A volumetric flask is a type of glassware used in a laboratory. Which is used in the laboratory to hold and measure the exact amount of liquid. It has a flat bottom and the flask has a long, narrow neck with a stopper that can be used to close the opening at the top. |
Erlenmeyer flask | An Erlenmeyer flask, also known as a conical flask, is a type of flat-bottomed glass flask, with a conical body, and a cylindrical neck used in laboratories. |
Graduated cylinder | It is used in the laboratory to measure the volume of liquid and is also used to transfer liquids with a moderate degree of accuracy. |
Disposable pipette | |
Funnel | A funnel is a type of pipe that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. It is used to pour liquid or powder into a container with a small mouth. |
Buchner Funnel | |
Buchner funnel vacuum filtration setup
Clamp | It is used in the laboratory to keep glassware like flasks and beakers etc. This clamp is mostly made of stainless steel. |
Test tube holder | The test tube holder is used to hold the test tube, when the test tube is hot it cannot be touched so it is used to keep the test tube in place. |
Test tube brush | A test tube brush is used for cleaning narrow-mouthed glassware. such as graduated cylinders, burettes, and Erlenmeyer flasks. |
Test tube stand | |
Petri dish | A petri dish is a small dish shaped like a cylinder. |
Glass rod | |
Graduated Dropper | A dropper or Pasteur pipette is an instrument used to transfer small quantities of liquid. |
Bunsen burner | |
Round-bottom flasks | Round bottom flask is remembered for chemical and biochemical works. it is made of glass. Heating and/or boiling of liquid, Distillation, Containing chemical reactions, etc. |
Tongs | Tongs are laboratory equipment used to hold and lift objects. |
Utility clamp | |
Spot test plate | |
Tripod for Bunsen burner
Wash Bottle | |
Wire Mesh Gauze (Ceramic Centre)
Spatula | A spatula is most commonly used in the laboratory. It is used for lifting powders, solid materials, granular materials, and mixing liquids and wet products. It is made of a stainless-steel blade and wooden handle. |
Glass Condenser | |
Filter paper | Filter paper is widely used in laboratories. It is generally round in shape and made of cotton cloth, it is used to filter the components. |
Separatory funnel | |
Filtering flask | |
Fusion tube | |
Reagent bottle | |
Digital pH meter | |
Watch glass | Watch glass is made of round concave glass which is used for evaporation in the chemistry lab. It is also used to weigh solids and cover flasks and beakers. |
Litmus and pH paper | |
Vacuum Pump | It can evacuate chemically aggressive gases and vapors. |
Kipp’s apparatus | |
Mechanical Shaker | |
Digital Balance | |
Water bath | A water bath is a container filled with hot water that is used to blanch a sample at a constant temperature for an extended period of time. |
Mortar and pestle | |
Crucible | A crucible is a ceramic metal container used to crush material and hold molten material at a high temperature. |
Sample containers | |
Digital Conductometer
Digital Potentiometer
Desiccator | |
Magnetic Stirrer | A magnetic stirrer is a type of laboratory equipment used in chemistry and biology, it is a rotating magnet or stationary electromagnet that creates a rotating magnetic field. It is used to create a stir bar, submerge a liquid, quickly spin, or stir or mix a solution. |
