eligibility criteria
- The age of the deceased should be between 18 to 60 years, i.e. the “bread earner” has died when he was between the age of 18-60 years. The “bread earner” is defined as the member of the household whose contribution to earnings is the largest
total household income. - Resident of Delhi for more than 5 years from the date of application
- The family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.1,00,000/- per annum.
- Applicant must have an Aadhaar number
- The applicant must have a ‘Single Operated’ account with any bank in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to receive payments through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
Application Process
a) The application is to be made online by registering through citizen login on the e-district portal www.edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in or by contacting the concerned District Social Welfare Office.
b) An Aadhaar number is mandatory for filling out the application- Without an Aadhaar, the application portal will not function.
c) To apply, self-attested documentary proof for the following has to be scanned and uploaded.

Residence proof
Bank account number (single account). This provision can be relaxed in the case of minors.
Can have a bank account under guardianship.
death certificate of the bread earner
One passport-size photograph of the applicant
Income self-declaration in the format given on the portal.
Receipt, approval of applications
New applications under the scheme are received on the e-district portal under the Delhi Family Benefit Scheme.
After the application is submitted, the District Social Welfare Office will scrutinize the application and if necessary, the applicant will be called along with the relevant documents for verification.
Normally, applications are disposed of within 45 days from the receipt of the application, unless the circumstances warrant otherwise.
Payment to new applicants, if approved, is sent to their bank account.
