Visakhapatnam district will get 25,000 connections, while Srikakulam and Vizianagaram have sanctioned 19,000 and 16,200 connections respectively. Cuddapah district has got the least number of connections at 14,697.
Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa told TOI that the state government has decided to release new connections for the benefit of women. The Department of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Civil Supplies on Tuesday issued GO MS No. 14, approving about three lakh LPG connections to women below the poverty line under the DIPAM scheme for the year 2014-15.
Sanjay Jaju, former office secretary of the state government, said that the selection of beneficiaries would be done as per the guidelines of the department and LPG distributors of public sector oil companies would issue connections to the beneficiaries on a priority basis.
